The HR Assistant for the City of Blue Springs will have the opportunity to perform a wide variety of functions while supporting day-to-day administrative operations. The successful candidate must share the HR team's vision for providing a supportive, high-energy, empathetic, positive and compliant employee experience for all City employees.

The HR Assistant will play a key role in providing a variety of administrative support tasks on the HR team. This will include greeting employees, answering phones, filing, and other administrative tasks. Strong office experience is required. A service-focused mindset will be vital to success in the position. The position will require creativity and adaptability as the department continually implements process improvements to automate administrative functions.

The position will include partnering across the HR team to provide support in the areas of recruiting, onboarding, data entry, benefits, wellness programs, and supporting the performance management process. It is vital that the team member ensures accurate recordkeeping. The role maintains all HR records and ensures they are up to date at all times. Ultimately, the person selected for this role will ensure the HR department stays well-organized and operates smoothly from an administrative perspective!

In the long term, this is a position that may be cross-trained to grow skills in other areas of Human Resources which may include risk management, safety, worker's compensation, and more. A growth mindset will be important to success on the HR team.

Education and Special License(s)/Certifications - High school diploma or equivalent is required. College coursework or degree is strongly preferred. Willingness to pursue continued training in a variety of HR topics is required.

Experience – 2-5 years of professional office experience required. Experience in recruiting / staffing, employee wellness, and/or worker’s compensation is strongly preferred. Strong proficiency with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle complex personal interactions. Superior organization skills including time management, document management, and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality. Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Ability to create time boundaries and maintain control over workload – escalating concerns as they arise.
