THE OPPORTUNITY:

This fun and rewarding part-time position is responsible for coordinating various aspects of the Blue Springs Parks and Recreation Little All-Star activity programs including Soccer, Football, T-ball, and Basketball.

The Blue Springs Parks & Recreation Little All-Star programs are designed to introduce the fundamentals of sports in a fun environment for children ages 3-4 years old. As a Coordinator, you will ensure courts and equipment are prepared and set up for safe practices and play. In addition, we'll be counting on you to communicate with a large number of volunteer coaches as well as parents - providing information and answering questions as needed. Other duties will include managing the fields/courts during practices including basic tasks like turning on the lights or keeping track of basic sign-in or incident forms. It's a fun job working with high-energy, enthusiastic kids - and a great way to contribute to the community with a nice part-time income. The Parks and Recreation team is collaborative, team-based, and supportive.

It will be important that you understand and coach the sessions as outlined in the Little All Starts Manual that will be provided to you. We'll ensure you have all the training and support needed to be successful in the position. It is especially important that you follow all City of Blue Springs, Parks and Recreation, State, and local ordinances.

DETAILS:

For this position, we require that you are at least 18 years old and you must have a level of education generally gained by completing high school or an equivalent program. Previous coaching skills or experience working with 3-4-year-old children will be especially helpful. You must be willing to obtain a CPR certification within 3 months of hire - the City will provide resources for this training.

REQUIREMENTS:

You will leverage your strong and effective communication skills for success in this position. The ability to work independently and follow directions is important. You must have the ability to work well with patrons of all ages.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear frequently; must be able to frequently use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or office machines; must be able to frequently reach with hands and arms; must be able to occasionally life, move, push, pull, or transport up to 50 pounds at least 25 feet; must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus frequently. Most work is performed in various athletic settings where weather conditions will vary.

The pay rate for this part-time position is $12 hourly.
